Dental Sealants
Some depressions and grooves of teeth remain vulnerable even with brushing and flossing to remove the food particles and plaque from smooth surfaces of teeth. Dental sealant is a thin coating painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth. The sealant bonds to the grooves forming a barrier over the enamel to ward off food buildup, plaque, and potential decay. It is a quick, in office process that is invisible once applied.
Sealants are best with applied to molars as soon as the teeth appear. This way, the sealant protects the teeth through the cavity prone years of children and teenagers hopefully preventing any cavities. However, for adults without decay or filings on molars sealants would also be beneficial for continued protection.
Sealants are best applied following a dental cleaning for best results. Contact
